No surprise at the polesitter - Kyle sure knows how to make the haters squirm!
I was, however, pretty shocked about Brian's run! Wow! He said afterwards that they were so focused on having a RACEcar that they neglected qualifying, so the #83 team decided to go back and try more qualifying stuff again. Looks like it paid off, especially if it's difficult to pass Sunday night.
Some of our other guys have quite a ways to get to the front. Since it's a 600 mile race, they have a long time to get there too!

This was kind of scary to watch since they qualified in the heat of the day. Right in the middle of Turns 3 and 4 was like a loaded gun. A couple of the early qualifiers wrecked right there (including Kevin Harvick, which was odd to watch), but our David pulled what the booth called a "champion save" on his second lap. He was on a pole run when the car kicked out. I was like, "Oh no..." but David wrestled the Not-A-Dream Machine all the way up the track and kept it off the wall! I know he probably was pissy that he didn't get a better lap, but I'm sure his crew brushed off any apologies because otherwise they would have had a car to fix next week and a backup to pull out of the hauler!
In all reality, Brian had a huge advantage for the pole as a result of going out last. Still, I was thrilled to see him beat out poor David Ragan! He should have a good car to race with.
