Nashville Superspeedway - Federated Auto Parts 300

Danni

RESULTS
1. Brad Keselowski
3. David
7. Scott

We didn't get to watch the whole race because of our trip to Pocono, but when we turned on the TV in the hotel, I sure liked what I saw - David battling for 2nd! I got that excited/nauseas feeling whenever one of my drivers is contending for the win. When David took the lead with 50 to go, emotions were high in the Super 8 at Pittston!

Fuel was a concern for the top-3 of David, Clint Bowyer and David Stremme, adding to my anxiety. It sure didn't look like David was conserving from the way he pulled ahead of the field! I was a little nervous, remembering a while back when the #99 Dream Machine wasn't too good on mileage. Some cautions that came out helped with the situation. However, a long green run ensued and within 20 to go and David still leading, I prayed for racing till the end.

But the yellow flew with only 10 to go when a field filler spun. That put me into the fairly foul mood, which only heightened when pretty much everyone behind them pitted for fuel and tires. When the green flew, only 7 laps remained.

Concern turned to anger when David shot up the track after the restart. I'm not completely certain whether Bowyer hit him or just got right up on his bumper, but I was white hot! From the way David drove afterwards, he wasn't too pleased either, cutting down in from of Stremme and nearly getting wrecked again. But Bowyer's disrepectful maneuver paid nothing for him when Brad Keselowski's fresh tires overcame! In fact, it seemed that Bowyer's car really fell off. With David right on his tail, Stremme got right behind Bowyer and bumped him out of the way! Probably not the smartest thing to do, but I'll admit that I cared not. Besides feeling a tinge of vengefulness, David would gain precious points by finishing in front of the series leader. At the end, he was better than Stremme but ran out of time for a 2nd place finish.

Keselowski won his first race and that coveted guitar. It was kind of painful to watch knowing how close David came. Despite my suspiciousness for Keselowski's ego, he seemed truly humbled to be in Victory Lane and it was nice to see his mom so excited. Hopefully this will calm Keselowski's mind and not inflate his head even further.

Bowyer cried about Stremme hitting him, like Jess and I predicted. I wanted to belt him over the head - what exactly did he do to David, then?! Stremme reiterated our thoughts of Bowyer giving it but not being able to take it. Oh, the hypocrisy!

It was a night of battles for Scott - he had the flu and got his fender folded in when he hit another car during the race. The finish was awesome considering all that and makes me feel more confident that the #29 may still be in winning form.

It may have sounded like I was cranky about David's run. I'm definitely not. In fact, I am so freaking proud of him and that #99 Aaron's team. It's hard to believe this was the first time he's led all year - he's been so much better. To run at the front for 43 laps is extremely difficult to do nowadays! I know David will win this year and for the second season in a row is fully capable of getting a championship under his belt! Go Reut and crew!
