Papa Casey!
Jess
So last night I went to Yahoo! Sports to check out their photos from the Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway and I saw they had an article on Casey's season so far. I read through it, progressively becoming more and more irritated. The writer acted like it was Casey's fault he hasn't had the same team in years (hello, it wasn't his freaking choice!!
) and that he is basically a worthless driver. I hate that! He has had so much bad luck this year and when he was on Trackside a few weeks ago he remarked that there were a lot of odd mechanical failures snatching good finishes out of his hands. It's not a lack of talent holding him back.
By then I was fuming...and then I read something that at first I thought was a joke:
"There is a bright side to this season. Mears is set to become a first-time father, though he declined to discuss a due date."
What??
Wow, that was out of the blue! It's true, though. I guess I'm just surprised about it because he isn't married, as old-fashioned as that may sound (I kind of like a step-by-step progression of commitment, but that's just me). Some people are completely flipping out about it and some think it's the most wonderful thing in the world. I'd say I'm somewhere in the middle, leaning toward the wonderful bit.
Casey is a good guy and I know he'll be a great father - and I hope he and his girlfriend, Trish, have a long, happy life together!
NASCAR babies are so much fun...there is nothing cuter than seeing a driver all goo-goo over a little baby!
Congratualtions, Casey!
